CEREMONIES

Hello!

I’m Spencer, an Independent Celebrant based in Leeds, West Yorkshire.

I create and perform a range of bespoke ceremonies full of heart, pride and poetry. For the LGBTQ+ community, for the makers and agitators, for the literary and the creatively contrary, for all the folk who want to see more love and joy in the world – I’m here to help you make your ceremony dreams come true.

As a published writer, poet, theatre maker and former educator with a lot of experience in public speaking, I’ve got all the important areas covered to make your ceremony truly unforgettable.

Each ring within a tree’s trunk tells a story of growth, of adversities faced and overcome, of endings, partings and new beginnings. We too have these rings. They are the stories we make, the markers we cross, the moments we celebrate for, and with, the ones we love. So, what story do you want to tell, and how can I help you write it?

Testimonials

"Spencer’s words during our wedding ceremony brought many of our guests to tears, his poetry was beautiful and so moving – even more so because it was personalised to us, who we are and what want from life. We couldn’t have asked for more."

"Wood's poems look at what it is to form a hub of safety with your loved ones, celebrating the connection while keeping one eye on the door...they are complex yet celebratory, realistic and grounded yet excited about new possibilites"

Pathways

Understand, I’ll slip quietly
away from the noisy crowd
when I see the pale
stars rising, blooming, over the oaks.

I’ll pursue solitary pathways
through the pale twilit meadows,
with only this one dream:

You come too.
